Salomey Afua Addo is a mathematician and a data scientist. As a research assistant at Leuphana University Lüneburg, she is currently developing the curriculum for a mandatory Computer Science semester for all first semester students - a first in Germany to promote data literacy in academia from the beginning.
She is also passionate about promoting Artificial Intelligence in Africa and a team lead at Ghana Natural Language Processing which aims to translate local languages such as Twi into English and vice versa. In February 2020, she founded the tutoring service Lighted Hope in her hometown Ashaiman in Ghana to provide quality education for children living in less privileged communities while schools were closed due to the Covid19 pandemic.
