Emilia Roig and Alice Hasters share with us their personal stories as bPoc (Black Person of Color) women in Europe and their own unique perspectives on the term "Afropean" - why they see themselves as Afropean and why they don't.
Emilia Roig is Founder of the Center for Intersectional Justice and an expert on intersectionality, critical race theory and postcolonial studies. She published her book "Why we matter" in 2021, in which she - also on the basis of the history of her own family - witnesses how racism and Black Pride, anti-Semitism and Auschwitz, homophobia and queerness, patriarchy and feminism collide.
Alice Hasters is a journalist, podcaster, and author of "What White People Don't Want to Hear About Racism but Should Know!" In her book, she describes how racism shapes her everyday life as a bPoc woman in Germany and shows why racism is not just a problem on the right-wing fringe of society.
